Summer 2006 William Marshall Conference Call
William Marshall waffles some more about Madebig, pre-launch and the beta agent program. He states that he has been an agent 11 months (in Summer 2006) and that “TMII allowed me to retire”. Marshall also claims “Richi had a vision” and that his programmers are “ahead of schedule by two years” (which begs the question as to why the site was incomplete and bug-ridden at launch?)
Marshall pushes user generated content and compares the launch of the site to the Yukon and California Gold Rushes of the 19th century. “Don’t let it pass you by”, says Marshall. He also does some name-dropping, mentioning MySpace and “Wired” Magazine – the standard names TMII attempts to associate themselves with.
Marshall also claims that “Richi did it to help all of us”. Agents also get an invite to the launch event in Salt Lake City, at the Grand America Hotel, which occurred on the weekend of September 8th & 9th, 2006. There follows more empty talk about the media seeing the site and modules (which never happened and surprised many at the Salt Lake City launch who had been fully convinced until that point).
