Mike Johnston Complaint E-mail Log

The following is the e-mail record of TMII agent Mike Johnston’s attempts to receive a refund from Richi Roane, for an event which was falsely advertised.

Johnston expected a well known keynote speaker, Dr. Stephen R. Covey, who was listed in the original advertising and might warrant the $795 event fee. When he was not present for the event, Mike understandably expected a refund on the fee he paid for himself and his wife to attend.

Subject: Boot Camp

Hi Richi

First of all I want to let you know that we (Cindy & I) are not typical complainers.

I will get right to the point: You have a great idea with the new MadeBig/GiveBig platform. I think it can really work but we all need training and essential tools for the agents to make it happen and to make prospecting easier: brochures, DVDs, Cds.

The boot camp, in our opinion, was a disaster.

We not only expected training but were told about and expected the Keynote speaker, which did not happen.

Our hopes we so high only to be let way down.

Not only did the keynote speaker not happen but the flow of what did happen was so unorganized.

We did not expect to learn how to become a “Tele-marketer”.

An hour or two of Dan Putnam would have been sufficient but to drag that on all day was ridiculous.

I am pretty sure the speaker you had planned on was Stephen Covey. I know his fee is around $25k.

So I can understand the cost of the boot camp being $795 per agent.

But the fact is, we did not get what was expected. Nor were we informed in advance that there was not going to be a keynote speaker.

$795 times 40 agents is $31,800. So what was all the money for? Probably not any of my business so no need to answer that question.

The bottom line is we feel like we did not get what we paid for. Far from what we felt we should have received from a “Boot Camp”. Not to say we did not get anything from it. There were some good things come from it but few.

We are involved with a company called MonaVie, you might know of. It’s a nutritional juice product.

We went to a 2 day Extravaganza event in San Francisco for that company which cost $99 for early registration and $129 late registration.

We left with a good feeling of satisfaction and enthusiasm.

We do not want any hard feelings here and this does not mean we are quitting a great opportunity.

But we do expect some compensation.

Thank You

Mike Johnston

Feel free to call me if you would like to discuss this further.

Mike

I am not typically this direct but this comes to you as friend and not as President/Founder.

This was not a RALLY or Extravaganza and I told you all the last 2 BootCamp calls that this BootCamp was going to be a little different than advertised because I thought that it was what you guys needed. Tell me this when you got back from The Extravaganza how much more did you earn that month than the month before…

As far as learning to be a telemarketer (not sure where that came from) but … I only could assume you all needed to learn how to cold prospect so that is why we did what we did…. I just thought what we did was something that everyone needed if they were going to be in the top earners of this incredible opportunity as it starts to take off!

After you went to Monavive Extravaganza did they offer to double your earnings for the next 10 weeks???

Did they tell you the next one was No Charge? Did they tell you that you were going to be promoted in up coming marketing materials?…and as far as The BootCamp Speakers/Trainers they got paid even though they didn’t come and motivate and inspire you. What we did was more appropriate for all that attended!

Mike I appreciate your honesty but I think you are missing what you have in your hands and at what point you have it in your hands at.

I think maybe you would of said the same thing if you were at Monavive first gathering also but you just didn’t have the opportunity. Sometimes people can’t handle opportunity they need others to make it happen so they can can have a Job.

I hope you are previous and not the latter.

Get on a Movavive Call tonight and let them know that they can spend couple of days with the core agent leadership and Founder of the company and that it going to cost $795 and as a bonus Monavive going to double their bonuses for the next 10 weeks and it will be limited to 40 people that have not earned more than $200….and see how fast it fills up and remember they all are getting a job… a good one but still just a job!

Talk to ya soon

Your Friend

You are the one that took our money.

I want to hear from you.  Not Kevin, this does not have anything to do with him.

But everything to do with you.

We do not want hard feelings between anybody.

We just want what is FAIR!…. And believe me, $1600 is far from fair for what we received!

This is totally unbelievable.

You said in your 1st reply that you were responding as a friend, not as President/Founder.

Oh really? Is this how you treat your friends?

Even if not as a friend, is this how you treat people in general?

I have been in business for myself for over 25 years and believe me, this is not how you treat people.

You did not deliver what you advertised. How, In Gods name, can you expect people to be satisfied with what took place at the boot camp? Do you really think that everyone got $795 worth?

Richi,  all we need to know is if we are going to get a refund of $1200 or not?

So I can proceed to the next level if necessary.

Nobody asked you to jump. And we never snapped our fingers!

It has been 9 days now since I replied back to your original reply, with no response.

And it has been 4 days since your last iPhone reply about calling.

We are still waiting for your phone call.

We certainly did not expect this to turn into such a BIG DEAL for you. It is really very simple.

Customer satisfaction! When you do not deliver what is advertised and the customer is dissatisfied, you give them a refund. A very simple rule of successful business.

The bottom line is that we are disappointed in your behavior as a business man. We had much more faith and confidence in you and your character than what you are exposing.

Please call so we can resolve this.

Thank You

I had Ashley credit your account $1000 it will payout with the March Monthly bonus. I also had her remove you from all bootcamp mailings and communications. I hope this is satisfactory for you. And to just let you know i did check the list and you were on a Webinar for bootcamper when I said the agenda had been changed and don’t come if you are coming to hear someone firing you up or give you how to’s it was going to be one thing: how to build a business without a warm market and we were going to roll our sleeves up and do the action not just listen to someone tell us how to do it…I guess you didn’t see no value in that from talking to people in your group maybe you should have tried a little harder but Cindy got a lot of praise from her team for participation. Anyway I’ll let the group know where you stand.

Have A Good Day

Hi Mike & Cindy,

As stated on all of the Saturday Training Webinars for the last few weeks all checks have been put on hold due to Corporate making changes with the checking accounts that commissions are processed out of.

As soon the checking accounts are in place your check should be processed.

We were out of town over the weekend and was not able to listen to the Saturday training.

There is nothing in our “MyOffice” that explains anything about what we are supposed to be excited about.

And what would any of this have to do with our refund?

The only thing that would excite us at this point is to get the refund that Richi promised us back in March.

We want our $1000 and nothing more!

Where is it?

Please answer the question.

Thank you

All we want is what you said you would do and give us our $1000 and all will be good.

I am not playing any more!

At this point, communication ceased and Mike decided to go public with his complaints, having given Richi Roane over four months to make good on his promise of $1000 refund.

He has since published his complaint at Rip Off Reports, Scam.com and also agreed to share his experience on this website. Additionally, Mike filed complaints with the Utah Better Business Bureau and the Oregon Department of Justice.

We wish Mike and Cindy well in their attempt to have TMII and particularly Richi Roane follow through with their promised refund.

I applaud the Johnstons for their patience but I think its obvious where Richi stands on the “Honesty and Integrity” meter………the meter does actually go below zero

Welcome Jeff.

Yes, it does appear to be that way. Where money is concerned, the bottom-feeders go and words like “honesty” and “integrity” have no true meaning beyond making good folks think all is well.

It just goes to show that actions will always speak louder than mere words.
